2021年3月18日,北京师范大学SSI-L项目鲁辽黑黔区域实验学校联盟召开了新学期线上选题专题研讨会议。本次会议研讨的内容为2021年各联盟学校SSI-L项目议题的选题情况,重点讨论各实验学校的选题是否恰当。此次会议由SSI-L项目山东区域负责人、威海市教学教研中心初中教研室张涛主任主持,贵州师范大学杨珺副教授,七所联盟校项目负责人及教师,共计40余人等参加了此次会议。

黑龙江省哈尔滨市继红小学

黑龙江省哈尔滨市继红小学赫英红老师介绍了本校SSI议题的情况,继红小学本学期所选议题为“水污染会为我们的生活带来什么影响?”,赫老师主要从学生发展的核心素养、驱动性问题、学习评价及活动规划等方面进行了介绍。

张涛主任认为,本学期所选的水污染议题地域色彩不够浓厚,并且属于“是什么”的问题,缺少争议点,安排的活动更接近探究式学习的形式,建议学校继续对上学期关于冰雪的议题进行研究。

杨珺教授认为,如果以水污染为课题,研究内容必然涉及到水质污染的一系列生化指标和专有名词,初高中阶段学生才能掌握和理解,对于科学知识尚有欠缺的小学生来说可能会理解障碍。建议由近及远地进行选题,例如:是否可以从学生喝的瓶装饮用水出发,从小学生认知的角度去选择议题的研究方向,从学生身边发现问题的争议点。

 

贵州省贵阳市第一实验中学

贵阳市第一中学王应薪主任介绍本校议题——十二背后溶洞的保护与开发,他分别从选题背景、研究对象、课程设置等方面介绍了议题的设计思路。

张涛主任认为本议题从选材上具有地域特点,但是议题还缺少驱动型问题,活动安排也大多属于探究性学习,建议进一步梳理议题所包含的内容,围绕这个总的议题分解出小的议题,再分学期组织研究。

杨珺教授认为该选题可以进一步聚焦,从小的方面入手,聚焦于一个小的方向;另外还要考虑活动开展的可行性。

威海市千山路小学

威海市千山路小学王传胜主任首先介绍了上学期学校议题的开展情况,表示本学期将继续推进薰衣草种植议题的研究,并表示要加强跟兄弟学校的合作研究。

张涛主任认为,本议题的争议点只体现在薰衣草的种植是否会对周围环境和人的健康产生影响方面,而议题安排的有些活动没有围绕争议点来进行,并与王主任就议题的争议点展开交流,

杨珺教授认为该选题活动设计较为充分、细致,与兄弟学校合作是一个很好的探究方式,但是问题的争议性不是很强。

 

荣成市府新小学

荣成市府新小学针对海草房数量呈减少趋势的现象,提出了“荣成‘海草房’需要传承和保护吗?”的议题。周老师介绍了该议题设计的五星图,并对具体的活动安排进行了详细的阐述。

张涛主任认为,本议题最好能够与荣成府新小学上学期研究的议题“城市景观树”建立起一定的关联,因为“城市景观树”和“海草房”都是非常具体的问题,因此建议将它们都归为“魅力荣成”议题当中,再围绕“魅力荣成”这一大的议题提出其他具体议题分学期进行研究。

杨珺教授认为“魅力荣成”议题建议非常好,可以围绕这一大的议题背景进行系列研究,威海荣成“海草房”在互联网上就有易于查找的资料,有一定研究价值。

 

威海南海新区实验学校

威海南海新区实验学校的选题与去年相同——南海开发是小观蛤减少的原因吗?于东升老师认为社会性科学议题要研究有意义的,通过本课题的研究可以为政府的施政提出一点小小的建议。

张涛主任认为,南海新区实验学校能够根据当地情况提出选题是很值得肯定的一面,但是这个选题是一个“是什么”的问题,而“是什么”的问题都可以有确定的答案,无需通过“议”得出结论。

 

威海望海园中学

威海望海园中学王真老师先是对上学期的议题“草木染是否应该大力推广”进行了回顾,然后介绍本学期将继续推进“草木染议题”,计划围绕两个方向进行:1、影响草木染的地域性差异因素有哪些?2、手工染者的现状如何?是否有未来发展的可能?

张涛主任认为,地域性差异和手工染者的现状都不能作为驱动性问题,因为它们也是“是什么”的问题,会有一个确切的结论,作为社会性议题,需要找到争论点,比如是选择当地的草木染衣料,还是选择贵州的衣料?这样的问题就有了争议点。

威海高新区第一中学世昌校区

威海高新区第一中学世昌校区姜老师介绍,学校准备将“威海地区进行海洋垃圾发电是否可行?”作为备选议题,姜老师介绍了海洋垃圾处理的必要性,以及议题所包含的科学、政策、环境、经济、安全五个方面的要素。

张涛主任认为,应该提前对威海海洋垃圾的现状进行了解,如果海洋垃圾的量不是很大,那么焚烧发电就不能成立,议题就是一个伪命题。而学校上学期所做的填海造陆是一个大的议题,可以对这个议题从多个角度进行更加深入透彻的研究。

杨珺教授认为,如果要继续进行课题研究,需要对海洋垃圾的定义做更明确的界定,进而明确本议题研究的方向和内容。

会议的最后,张涛主任对今后的工作做出了安排。一是确定课题:要根据今晚的讨论尽早确定好各学校本学期要研究的议题,最好能够对近两年拟研究的议题做出系统规划;二是细化方案:要按照要求和格式做好议题实施方案,做好五角星分析,细致规划议题推进的步骤;三是抓紧实施:要抓紧时间组织实施,尽快行动起来;四是准备展示:要做好过程性材料的收集和整理,准备交流和展示;五是注意总结:要将进行的议题研究及时进行总结,形成案例、论文、成果报告等形式的固化成果,争取在上学期项目开展的基础上取得更大的成绩。

On March 18, 2021, the partner school alliance of Shandong, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Guizhou of the SSI-L Project held an online meeting on the issue selection of each school for the new semester of 2021, which focused on whether the issues selected were appropriate. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Tao, the leader of SSI-L Project Shandong and the director of middle school teaching and research department of Weihai Municipal Teaching & Research Center, and attended by over 40 people, including Associate Professor Yang Jun from Guizhou Normal University, the heads and teachers of seven schools of the alliance.

Jihong Primary School of Harbin, Heilongjiang

He Yinghong, a teacher from Jihong Primary School of Harbin, introduced the SSI-L Project of the school. The issue selected by the school was “What are the impacts of water pollution to our life?” The teacher mainly introduced the project from such perspectives as the key competence of students, the driving questions, academic performance evaluation and activities.

Director Zhang Tao believed that the issue of water pollution for this semester lacked regional features and controversies. The activities were similar to an exploring study, so he suggested that the school should continue to study the issue of ice and snow it selected in last semester.

Professor Yang Jun believed that if the issue of water pollution were selected, the research would involve a series of biochemical indicators and terms of water quality pollution, which could only be understood by students of high schools, but may be difficult to elementary school students who still lack relevant scientific knowledge. For this reason, Professor Yang suggested that starting from bottled water, the research direction and topic can be selected from the cognitive perspective of elementary school students and controversies can be discovered near the students.

No. 1 Experimental Middle School of Guiyang, Guizhou

Teacher Wang Yingxin from No. 1 Experimental Middle School of Guiyang introduced the issue of the school “the protection and development of ‘Behind Twelve’ karst caves”. He introduced the learning design of the issue from such perspectives as background, object of study, and course setting.

Director Zhang Tao believed that the issue showed regional features, but lacking driving questions, and the activities were mainly for inquiry learning. He suggested further analyzing the contents covered by the issue and breaking down the general problem into smaller ones, and then organizing the research in semesters.

Professor Yang believed that the issue could be more focused on a minor direction and the feasibility of the activities should also considered.

Qianshanlu Primary School of Weihai

Teacher Wang Chuansheng of Qianshanlu Primary School of Weihai first introduced the implementation of SSI leanring by the school in last semester and said that the school would continue with the research on the issue of lavender planting in this semester, and strengthen cooperative research with sibling schools.

Director Zhang Tao believed that the controversy of the issue was whether lavender planting had impacts on the surrounding environment and people’s health, and some activities for the issue were not carried out around the controversy. He also exchanged views with Director Wang on the controversy of the issue.

Professor Yang Jun believed that the activities designed for the SSI learning were fairly sufficient and meticulous. It was a good way of exploration to cooperate with sibling schools, yet the controversy of the issue was not so strong.

Fuxin Primary School of Rongcheng

Considering the decreasing of seaweed houses, Fuxin Primary School of Rongcheng proposed an issue of “Should the seaweed houses in Rongcheng be protected and carried on”. Zhou, a teacher of the school, introduced the star chart of the issue and elaborated the specific arrangement of activities.

Director Zhang Tao suggested that the issue should be associated with the SSI learning by the school in last semester, “urban landscape trees”, to a certain extent, since both were specific issues. Therefore, he suggested including them into the general topic of “Charming Rongcheng”, and proposing other specific topics around the general topic, which should then be studied in semesters.

Professor Yang Jun believed that the issue of “Charming Rongcheng” was a good suggestion and a series of researches can be carried out around the general topic. The data about seaweed houses in Rongcheng, Weihai can be easily gained from the internet, which is of certain research values.

Experimental School of Nanhai New District, Weihai

The Experimental School of Nanhai New District, Weihai selected the same issue as last year, “Is the development of Nanhai the cause for the decrease of Xiaoguan clams?” The teacher Yu Dongsheng believed that the SSI research should be meaningful. Through the SSI learning on this issue, some suggestions could be made on the governance of the government.

Director Zhang Tao believed that the school could propose the issue according to local conditions. However, the issue was about “what”, which could find a certain answer and need not reach a conclusion through “arguing”.

Wanghaiyuan Middle School of Weihai

Wang Zhen, a teacher of Wanghaiyuan Middle School of Weihai, first reviewed the SSI learning of last semester, “Whether vegetation dyeing should be promoted vigorously”, and then introduced that the school would continue to promote the issue of vegetation dyeing in two directions. First, what factors affect the regional differences of vegetation dyeing? 2. What is the current status of manual dyeing workers? Will they develop in the future?

Director Zhang Tao believed that regional differences and the current status of manual dyeing workers cannot serve as driving questions, since they are about “what” and can reach a definite conclusion. To be a socio-scientific issue, controversies are required, such as “whether to select local fabric dyed with vegetation dye, or fabric of Guizhou”.

Shichang Campus of No. 1 Middle School of High-tech Zone, Weihai

The teacher Jiang of the school said that they would take “Is power generation with marine debris feasible in Weihai” as an alternative issue. Jiang introduced the necessity to dispose marine debris, and the elements of the issue in five areas, namely science, policy, environment, economy, and security.

Director Zhang Tao suggested that the current status of marine debris in Weihai should be studied in advance. If the amount of marine debris was not high, then incineration power generation would not be feasible, and thus the issue would be a false proposition. The issue of reclaiming land from the sea studied by the school in last semester is a general topic, which can be studied more deeply and completely from multiple perspectives.

Professor Yang Jun believed that to advance the research of the issue, marine debris should be defined more clearly to confirm the research direction and content of the topic.

At the end of the meeting, Director Zhang arranged the work to be done in the future. First, confirm the issues to be studied in the current semester sooner according to the discussion tonight and systematically plan the issues to be studied in the following two years. Second, develop a scheme for the SSI learning according to related requirements and formats, perform the star chart analysis and plan the detailed steps for the issues. Third, take action at once to implement the scheme. Fourth, collect and sort out the process materials and prepare for exchange and exhibition. Fifth, summarize the research in time in such forms as cases, papers and reports, to make a bigger achievement on the basis of the work done in last semester.
