In the golden autumn of October, Professor Chang Chun-Yen from National Taiwan Normal University visited the Collaborative Innovation Center of Assessment for Basic Education Quality at Beijing Normal University, successfully completing a series of remarkable academic guidance and exchange activities.
1. Integration of Theoretical Exploration and Practices: Innovative Interpretation of the DECODE Model and Online Teaching Platforms
Drawing upon the high-quality papers published by his team, Professor Chang provided an in-depth analysis of the DECODE model applied to teacher training. This model, incorporating processes such as demonstration, collaborative training, course design, and teaching reflection, helps pre-service teachers enhance their self-regulated learning abilities and knowledge related to technology-integrated teaching. Additionally, his team developed two online teaching platforms, CloudClassRoom (CCR) and AI-Scientific Inquiry (AISI). These platforms enrich scientific teaching and research with interactive features and personalized learning support, showcasing the potential of technology to empower education. His presentation highlighted the value of the DECODE model and the CCR and AISI platforms, broadening education practitioners’ horizons, inspiring thoughts on educational innovation, and providing valuable insights for education reform and teacher development.
2. Field Visits and Strategic Discussions: Implementing SSI-L Courses and Co-Constructing Virtual Laboratories
Professor Chang joined SSI-L project leader Lin Jing of Beijing Normal University and her team on a visit to a partner schools of the BNU Basic Education Development and Management Department’s Xieying Program — the Asia-Pacific Experimental School of Beijing Normal University. They engaged in discussions on implementing SSI-L courses and building virtual laboratories. Dong Haowei from the SSI-L high school division shared the progress of the "Global Warming" course and laboratory construction at the school. Lin Jing provided feedback and guidance on the course implementation, while Professor Chang proposed integrating virtual simulation platforms with laboratory construction and promoting student-teacher learning exchanges through competitions. Principal Xu Xiangdong of the Asia-Pacific Experimental School guided the group on a tour of the laboratory, discussing construction planning along the way.
3. Academic Guidance and Intellectual Inspiration: A Deep Dive into the Sandwich Model for Paper Writing
In an academic workshop focusing on "Paper Writing and Publication," Professor Chang used the sandwich model to comprehensively explain the significance of literature reviews and research, the selection of research questions, the process of drafting papers, and the value of building databases. He also shared practical writing techniques. This seminar provided participants with valuable learning opportunities, helping them progress steadily in their academic pursuits.
4. Cross-Disciplinary Sharing and Research Leadership: Exploring the Frontiers of Interdisciplinary Studies
