关于召开“议题为本的科学教育”2024年中小学生科学素养提升学术年会的通知

Issues-based science education has emerged as a transformative approach in teaching and learning, linking classroom concepts to real-world societal problems. This paradigm encompasses various methodologies, including socio-scientific issues (SSI) teaching, context-based learning, education for sustainability, and addressing grand challenges. A departure from traditional science instruction, issues-based science education fosters critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and a deep appreciation of the complex interdependencies within global systems. It also promotes a heightened interest in science among students. However, the transition to issues-based teaching presents significant challenges.

Our conference seeks to address these very challenges. The AISL 2024 conference will serve as a platform for sharing innovative strategies and experiences, fostering a dialogue among educators, researchers, and practitioners. We welcome researchers and graduate students to jointly explore practical ways to overcome barriers and improve the implementation of issues-based science education. The specific details of the conference are as follows:

Registration Venue: Main campus of the Experimental High School Attached To Beijing Normal University (No. 14 Erlong Road, Xicheng District, Beijing)

Administrative Details

1. Participation arrangement: Participants are required to fill out the conference registration form. The conference is free of charge, and lunch will be provided during the conference. Participants will need to arrange their own accommodation and travel expenses, which can be reimbursed by their respective institutions.

2. Campus Access: Please see Attachment 2 for the campus map of the Experimental High School Attached To Beijing Normal University. On the mornings of December 13 and December 14, attendees should enter through the West Gate. On the morning of December 14, attendees should enter through the South Gate (International Department) for parallel forums.

3. Transportation: No parking spaces will be available. Participants are advised to use public transportation or other eco-friendly travel methods.
